i'm Glad There is This Board

I'm so glad that there is a place to come where there is not going to be an overwhelming amount of foul language and sex talk. While I enjoy talking to just about everyone, and I do not want to tell people how to speak and act, it is nice to get away from it and go to a place where the content is clean. It can get overwhelming after a time of hearing nasty talk. I don't use profanity myself. I prefer not to. Just because i'm an adult does not mean I like bad language and dirty talk. I watch a lot of the children's programming for that reason, as there is nothing interesting for adults that I'd ever consider watching, except for some crime TV, classics, and murder mysteries. That is as adult as it gets for me.

hi reina.

i agree about this board, i need to use it more often. it amazes me at how 1 topic can turn in to a bashing contest and when you post here you have less chance of that.

i watch a lot of children's shows too, mainly the same reason... they are interesting and you're as old as you feel. haha. if you want to be a kid, who's gonna stop you, i'd turn round and say well it's my choice, and if you don't like it you're welcome to your opinion

I found some interesting topics on this board, especially the one on the favorite websites. I've been finding lots of new ones from that topic. I like the older kids shows like Flintstones, Jetsons, Smirfs. Some of this new stuff is based on video games and I don't get it.

I don't like kids shows much but because of all the meaningless shows and the language and ethics I just stick to book, right winged talk shows and dvds of older television show.

Yeah, I agree with you there reina I do like this board too for that same reason.

I totally agree with all of you. It gets overwelming to hear all the bad language. I as a christian try not to use it, and definitely don't like using it. I even put replaements into my jaws dictionary so it says beep instead of some nasty words. It's extreme, I know, but that's how horrible I find it.
I hardly watch any TV at all. I hate cartoons, frankly, but not keen on adult shows either, and I can't stand talk shows.

I think it's a bit extreme to make your jaws say beep, but that's just me. I do, however, like the fact that this board is there for those who feel it's necessary, cause there are some things that really shouldn't be bashed.

I think the beep deal is kind of funny but if I cared that much I'd would just put in substitutes like son of a gun, freakin, darn, dang, shoot, shat, and heck.

I think my favorite is shat though,

Totally agreed about talk shows. They're such a waste of time and TV air space, in my opinion. Yes. Some of the topics on other boards on the zone can be very overwhelming, not just with the language, but the content. I'm all for freedom of speech, but degrading people just because they don't agree with your opinion, and vice versa, is really not going to make you too many friends, except those who also enjoy that kind of thing.

The language doesn't bother me but I don't find the bashing of others all that great.

Have to agree. Some of these other boards are , well...Interesting.

That is an understatement.

My only contribution to this board is on the cursing replacements, what a friend of mine called virtual cursing:
One of you said that shat replaces a familiar word.
Actually it is the past perfect, past imperfect and conditional tence of the verb to sh*t. Then again there generally is a line or threshold between the virtual and the real.

I really like this board also.

I also agree with freedom of speach, but it seems some of the people on the other boards cannot take a breath without saying one of the most fowlist words. I am sure you know which word I am talking about without giving out the first letter of it.

I slip and say some of the milder ones, but I am trying to clean them up.

This is a wonderful board to be on.

there's nothing wrong with cussing...to each their own, though.

Post 17 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Monday, 01-Mar-2010 8:47:17

It's not the cussing I have a problem with. It's what some choose to cuss about.

I often use less than desirable language...more than I should. But sugar happens. Lol!
